Mae’r archif yn olrhain hanes Heddlu De Cymru o’i ddechreuadau ym 1841, pryd y’i galwyd yn Gwnstabliaeth Morgannwg, drwyddo i’w uno â heddluoedd Caerdydd, Abertawe a Merthyr Tudful ym 1969 a’i ail-enwi wedyn yn Gwnstabliaeth De Cymru, hyd at ei newid enw terfynol yn Heddlu De Cymru ym 1996.

Mae cyfoeth archifau Heddlu De Cymru, diolch i waith Mr Edward Ronald Baker, Dirprwy Brif Gwnstabl Cwnstabliaeth Morgannwg a sylfaenydd Amgueddfa Heddlu De Cymru yn un o’r mwyaf cyflawn yn y Deyrnas Gyfunol, ac mae'r gwaith yn parhau.
